Burqa vs Pants:

For the last several months i have been hearing about the french govt declaring how making women wear burqas and veils are derogatory and how it is against the spirit of the fair country of France etc etc...
and then 1 fine morning i read in the papers that in the capital of this fine fair country, its actually a crime for women to wear pants and thus 'dress like a man'!!!! I mean i can get how this blatent insult to women existed in the 1800s but seriously? it has been 50 odd years since France has officially accepted women as an equal to men in the eyes of the law... the fact that in-spite of everything that repealing this law requires even a review is unbelievable for me.. In fact a motion to remove the law was dismissed as recently as 2003.....and to top it all of the country still proclaims the wearing of a veil as derogatory to women and is running a crusade to ban it completely and nt even allow the women who wishes to wear it to do so!!!!

Can there be a more apt example for the idiom the pot calling the kettle black??
